The use of the term ”Media” in Wisdom House Media is intended to reflect the new reality that, in today’s fast-changing publishing landscape, even the basic language used in publishing is evolving at a rapid rate.

As one prime example, authors today need to think of their “books” as “digital files” that can now be “published” meaning “distributed via multiple media.” These media include print (the traditional paper “pBook” –  either hardcover or paperback), the “eBook” using digital files formatted for the current dedicated eReader devices (including Amazon’s Kindle, Barnes and Noble’s Nook, Sony’s eReader, as well as for multi-use devices including Apple’s ipad and ipod touch, smart phones (both Apple’s iphone and the Android-based phones), laptop and desktop computers, and as audio books.

If you have commercial aspirations for your book, authors today need to think in terms of self publishing by distributing their digital files via various distribution channels in addition to or as a replacement for the traditional publishing model. Even the major traditional publishing houses are embracing the new distribution imperatives using the same online outlets available to those who self-publish.
